Saturday, September 29, 2012 'tis the season to start knitting again.
I started this Entrelac Scarf this past Spring and finally finished it the end of August. I love it. And I loved working with the Noro Silk Garden (45% Silk/45% Kid Mohair/10% Lambs Wool) too. I used color 87 as called for in the pattern. While doing the entrelac technique, the colors in this yarn pretty much stayed in the pattern as a color block quilt would--quite neat.

Today at the guild was the "teddy bear tea party" for all of us knitters who knitted an outfit for a bear that will be donated to Dana-Farber.
I am happy with how mine came out. A little 'squaw.' Different. I didn't win any of the prizes--not even honorable mention--competition was fierce! It was fun to be there, have the day off, knit, eat cake, drink coffee, have lunch and commiserate with the other knitters. Here are some pictures of my bear's miniature cowichan cardigan (pattern link in 3/28/12 post) as it was worked. I didn't post these pictures along the way, because it was 'top secret' as to what we were going to dress our bears as. ![]() duplicate stitching the thunderbird in back: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I knitted a headdress from the border design--casted on 241 sts: ![]() He'll go to a good home and make a patient happy: ![]() just some of the stiff competition: ![]() Labels: charity knitting, GBKG Wednesday, March 28, 2012 What I'm working on.
Currently, a cardigan for this bear:
![]() He was loaned to me from the The Greater Boston Knitting Guild (GBKG) to dress for our tea party on April 19th. He will be judged by a patient at the Dana Farber and all of our bears will be going to patients at Dana Farber. I'm making the Miniature Cowichan Cardigan by Veronik Avery. I saw the pattern in my issue of Interweave Knits Holiday from 2007 as I was paging through old patterns. I plan to make the design border to tie around his head for an indian headdress. . . . we'll see about that anyway. Pictures! ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm also working on my first entrelac project using beautiful Noro Silk Garden, a scarf from freckles and purls: more to come: ![]() and trying to finish up my daughter's "Gymboree" inspired scarf (lucky for this mild winter, it didn't get finished in time for this year): ![]() I'm looking forward to the tea party on the 19th!
