knitting by my hands and from my heart

The yarn stash just keeps on growing! I'm a wife, a mom, a sister, a daughter, and a friend who works in Corporate America, lives in the Boston, MA area and is always looking for more time to knit.

This weekend I went to Fabric Place. They were having a 25% off everything in the store sale PLUS I had a $5 off coupon. I got yarn for a teddy bear for my son, the safety eyes, sock yarn, and dpns for socks. I saved $20.

Summer '05 bag in progress.

I'm on a roll. I also got the better part of the front of this bag I'm making for the summer started. It will eventually have bamboo handles. It's made with Red Heart Hokey Pokey in Blue Bonnet and Tangerine. Yup, Red Heart--hey it fits for this project. The pattern is from the premier issue of Woman's Day Quick & Easy Knitting & Crocheting. I think it came out Fall of 2004.

Finished mom's sweater!

I finished last night! Got a second wind. Hope it fits mom. It should. Gauge is a funny thing, though. I made this same sweater (my hoodie), this doesn't have the hood, and even without counting the absent hood, I've used one less ball of yarn on my mother's sweater than I did on mine. Hmmmm.

Here is me wearing the sweater in 100+ degree F. heat today. In my capris too--how fashionable is that?

Front piece and one sleeve to mom's sweater

It's 90 degrees and the three H's here. Hazy, hot, and humid. I've been in a 'knitting slump' because of it so I haven't picked the needles up in like two weeks!

Here is the finished front piece of mom's sweater and one sleeve finished:

I leave long ends for finishing. I hate finishing and am dreading that.

I also bought two more Elizabeth Zimmermann books:

I already have "Knitting Without Tears." I love to read her books.
